What an exciting day. It is Canada's Birthday, My daughter and her grandfather's birthday is July 2 and we celebrated July 1. It was awsome as dad is 85 and my daughter is 17.

When traveling to countries where you aren't familiar with the language, try taking camera phone photos before you leave of basic items (like a bottle of water, a toilet, a taxi, etc.) so you can show someone what it is you are looking for.

If you travel abroad with multiple family members, use a label maker to post the first names of the passport's owner to the front - it makes it easier when you get to security to pull the correct one for the correct person.
